Sept-Oct 2016 Class Call

President: WM Javier

Secretary: ED Ojeda

We had regularly been during Business 101 reminded with this mantra and perhaps we might even have mumbled the banalized word in our dreams – location, location, location. Apparently, the same holds true in Government 101. A few Mapitagans happened to be located in Davao when the President was then Mayor. Now we have five snappy mistahs ably assisting SND Del Lorenzana ‘73 in the Defense department: Ed Sayong as USec for Civil, Veterans and Retirees Affairs; the Onay as USec for Defense Operations; Jude T is Director of Legal Affairs; Jess Rey absconded Vancouver, but not Blue, to be the Chief of MIS Services; and Bong Cab will shatter the silence in OCD-NCR.

Clustering seems to be the Class trend in the corporate milieu as well – there are five “civilians” working for a tycoon under his LT Group, Inc.: Ces Ords with Philippine Airlines; Omie Carb flies the Airbus for PAL; Noel Cobar with Asia Brewery, Inc.; Colines the Baron with Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp.; and Onell coping under Badong Mison ‘55 in Basic Holdings Corp. With the new dispensation taking over, though Ager left NICA, behind stayed Sammy, Fajie, Gil and Ariel. Mai left Customs, and Rainier, to Dolly’s relief, tired from all the “galugading” left BuCor.

Still talking corporate, is Emil over- employed, as security consultant of the Yuchengco Group of Companies slash president of its security training academy, and again security consultant slash chairman of the security management team of Armscor Philippines? Herbert keeps an eye over a famous hacienda in Tarlac; Junie Carb after decades with Cemex is considering better options; Mon Lors is toiling for Nissan in Pasong Tamo, Makati; Jeff Tupas we heard last left NGCP for a better pasture; and Ige the Eyeful runs, but answers to Aleli, a pension house in Puerto Princesa. Down there in the queen city of the south, if Cebu City can still lay claim to the title, we have Tanjo, Bai Cecil, Atty Jess and Boy Obols. Tanjo has this standing invite that should any Mapitagan find himself marooned in Cebu, to send him an SOS and he will in turn award the key to the city.

Golf. The sport, or pastime, favored by retirees. Exhilarating, at the same time, exasperating. And exasperation seems not to bother Rainier, Pasambic, DanteBal and Paco, who pretend to be undaunted by the unforgiving fairways and greens of Camp Aguinaldo every Sunday. Herbert and Onell on the other hand prefer to enjoy watery Kagitingan, and must buy used golf balls after “jabonging” so many every round. Ces and Cobar on Sundays can be seen sometimes rotting in the flight of Badong Mison Sr. in CAGC. Caloy Z and Bogs favor Navy Golf, obviously.

Meanwhile, Class Prez JayVee leads the class among the pious and meek who have dedicated their lives devoutly to their apostolic calling. Class Elder Statesman Tony B is busy being, well, the Class’ elder statesman. We will be disclosing usable information about other Mapitagans as soon as we ascertain their retirement whereabouts.

Now, where on earth is Romy Paladaon?
